Caesar’s bust: * see Endnote 55

The Tusculum portrait or bust is the only extant portrait of Caesar made during his lifetime; its features are consistent with those of coins struck in Caesar's last year, particularly on the denarii issued by Marcus Mettius;  the uncompromising realism of the portrait places it in the tradition of late Republican Roman portrait sculptures of the 1st century BC.
