Caesar’s bust: *

the sculptor has made an attempt at a true likeness and not an idealized rendering: the bust displays particular features of the sitter (the head is prolonged, forming a saddle shape caused by premature ossification of the sutures between the parietal bone & the temporal bone; it also exhibits dolichocephalia); it is dated 50–40 BC, made of fine grained marble, the bust measures 33 cm in height..
