Laocoon group: *

In Virgil, Laocoön was a priest of Poseidon who was killed with both his sons after attempting to expose the ruse of the Trojan Horse by striking it with a spear.  This is most likely a copy of original bronze, probably dating from early Imperial period; probably commissioned for the home of a wealthy Roman Imperial family; dating from the Julio-Claudian era (between 27 BC and 68 AD).

Character-Drama: *

A character who stands as a representative of a particular class or group of people is known as a type; it includes stock characters as well as more fully individualised.  Ibsen and Strindberg produced characters representative of specific positions in the social relations of class & gender; conflicts between these characters revealed ideological conflicts in society  The status of a character is defined through his relation with the other characters.  The relation between characters & the action of the story shifts historically, often reflecting a society's ideas about human individuality, self-determination & the social order.
