Newton:

(1642-1726) English mathematician, astronomer & physicist, one of the most influential scientists of all time & key figure in the scientific revolution.  “Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy" or Principia (1687) established foundations of classical mechanics; in addition he made path breaking contributions to optics as well developing the infinitesimal calculus (with Leibniz); established the laws of motion & universal gravitation, & validated Kepler’s laws of planetary motion; by using these same principles to calculate trajectories of comets & tides established his theories as universal.
