Cypress trees (see image to the left) are a vertical tree, dense in foliage but narrow in shape; they have great regular linearity & a strong vertical solidity.  They are native to the heartland of the Apollonian world (see map below).

Pines (see image on the right) conform to the geometric shape of a triangle, a classic shape in plane (Euclidean) geometry.

Deciduous trees like oak, beech or linden possess broad and spreading crowns with a silhouette which reaches out horizontally, branches kinked & snaking outwards.  Their shape may be irregular.  In groups they often form a loose canopy of entangling branches.
