Kant (space as a priori):

Kant (In Critique of Pure Reason, 1781) argues that space (and time) are built into human perception, they are a priori (meaning they exist independently of observation) as pure intuition; it is upon these that we can build further frameworks for analytic thinking.  Space & time exist only in the world of human intuition, rather than as objective reality, they are constructs of the mind.
