Vector analysis:
(aka vector calculus) branch of mathematics concerned with differentiation and integration of vector fields, primarily in 3-D Euclidean space; important in differential geometry & in the study of partial differential equations, used extensively in physics and engineering, especially in the description of electromagnetic fields, gravitational fields & fluid flow.
4 dimensional geometry:
Lagrange in his Mécanique analytique (1788, based on work done 1755) states mechanics can be viewed as operating in 4 dimensions: 3 dimensions of space, 1 of time.
tempus absolutem sive duration:
Latin for “time is absolute duration”; quote from Newton.
Augustine:
(354- 430 AD ) early Christian theologian & philosopher from Numidia in N Africa; an important Church Father in the Patristic Era; influenced development of Western Christianity & philosophy; bishop of Hippo Regius; main works- the City of God, On Christian Doctrine and Confessions. As a youth drawn to Manichaeism & later neo-Platonism; following his baptism (386 AD) developed his own approach to philosophy and theology.
